Belinda

Floor Manager

Belinda began her veterinary nursing career in the mid 90s and joined the Bass Hill Vet Hospital team in 1996. She worked alongside Dr Ernie Young for several years prior to the change of hospital ownership in 2002 and has been a valued and longstanding member of our team ever since.

Over the years, Belinda has developed extensive experience in both medical and surgical nursing and is well known for her excellent rapport with clients and the genuine care she shows to their pets.

As Head Nurse/Floor Manager, Belinda oversees the daily operations of the hospital, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and client service are maintained. She leads by example and plays a key role in keeping the team calm, supported, and working together in a positive and focused direction, even during busy or high-pressure days.

She is a qualified Veterinary Nurse, having completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing through Bankstown TAFE, and is committed to ongoing continuing education to keep her knowledge and skills current across all areas of veterinary nursing.

Outside of work, Belinda enjoys the beach, travelling, and spending time with her family and friends.

Lauren

Floor Manager

Lauren is a fully qualified veterinary nurse and has been working in the industry for the past 10 years, she joined our team at Bass Hill in 2017. Lauren has had a great love of all animals since she was a young child. 

Lauren has a keen interest in all areas of Veterinary Nursing and loves new challenges. She is such a hard working nurse, and we love having her as part of our team. She has a very kind, calm nature which is perfect in our very busy hospital. The animals love her and so do we! 

Lauren enjoys spending time with friends and family and their beautiful rescue dogs Ronan the Kelpie cross and Isla the Corgi cross and her DSH rescue cat Lola.

Christine

Floor Manager

Christine joined the Bass Hill Vet Hospital team in 2018 and is one of our most experienced and trusted senior veterinary nurses. She is a qualified veterinary nurse, having completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing through Bankstown TAFE.

As Floor Manager, Christine plays a key role in keeping the hospital running smoothly while supporting both the nursing and veterinary teams. She is an excellent leader who leads by example and brings a wealth of knowledge across all aspects of veterinary nursing.

Christine is committed to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and consistently keeps her skills up to date through continuing education and the latest professional courses. She is known for her calm, practical approach, strong work ethic, and genuine care for both patients and clients.

Outside of work, Christine enjoys travelling, the beach, music, and spending time with her much-loved fur child, Milly the Maltese cross.

Soula

Senior Vet Nurse

Soula  joined our team as a veterinary nurse in May 2014. She has been vet nursing since 2000.

She comes with a vast amount of experience which she has gained over the years working in a Northern Beaches practice. Soula is a qualified veterinary nurse with a keen interest in our feline surgery and medical cases and customer service.  Most of you would have probably met Soula as she is one of the friendly faces you meet at our reception.

Soula manages all our Rescue clients. She does an amazing job organising necessary paperwork for all the rescue cats in need of vaccinations and desexings. It’s a big job, we deal with many rescues who dedicate their lives to saving homeless animals.

Soula has grown up with animals her entire life. She is an animal lover and is passionate about animal welfare.

In her spare time Soula enjoys spending time with her husband, two beautiful children and their rescue cat Squirt.

Tara

Senior Vet Nurse

Tara commenced her nursing career in 2016 when she joined our team and has since become a highly valued member of our practice. She is a passionate animal lover, demonstrating care and compassion for every patient she encounters.

A qualified Veterinary Nurse, Tara completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at Bankstown TAFE. She has a strong interest in all aspects of clinical veterinary nursing. As a senior veterinary nurse, she plays a key role in ensuring that every patient receives the attention and care they deserve.

Outside of work, Tara enjoys the beach, socialising with friends and family. Her own fur family include a British Shorthair cat named Bailey and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Layla.

Bronwyn

Senior Vet Nurse

Bronwyn joined our team in March 2020 after a very long career as a veterinary nurse with over 20 years in practice. She has a keen interest in surgery and loves caring for our patients whilst they recover with lots of TLC. 

We are so happy to have her as part of our large nursing team. Her happy disposition is lovely and she has fitted in really well. She is such a dedicated nurse always volunteering to stay back to help the animals in need.

In her spare time Bronwyn loves to show her miniature pony show team with her husband. They also volunteer at the Zig Zag Railway in the Blue Mountains on a regular basis.

Keryn

Senior Vet Nurse

Keryn joined our team back in November 2014 after relocating from her hometown of Melbourne.

She is a qualified nurse having completed her Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing at Box hill Tafe. Keryn brings with her extensive surgical experience. Her favourite part of the job is helping out with caesarians and meeting all the newborn puppies.

Keryn currently works with us on a part time basis, she also works at VSOS emergency/specialist hospital where she has gained further knowledge and skills. You will often be greeted by her happy face on Sundays at BHV. She has 10 years of experience now in this industry and is such a valued member of our team.

Keryn enjoys going to the beach and spending time with Sam and Eric the parrots.

Sam

Veterinary Nurse

Sam joined our team back in November 2021 during the Covid pandemic. She has been a wonderful addition to our team during a very hard time for the veterinary industry. We are so grateful to have her on board to help out.

Sam is passionate about animal welfare and has such a warm, caring nature which our patients love. She completed her studies in Veterinary Nursing through Tafe in December 2024. Hard to believe as she has a wealth of knowledge for a young vet nurse due to her love of learning and eagerness to grow each day

Sam has a special interest in Triage, Imaging, as well as surgery. She is also our Tafe work placement co-ordinator for all our upcoming veterinary nursing students. She mentors them during their practical training with us, a natural born teacher and our students are extremely lucky as they are able to learn so much with Sam.

In her spare time Sam enjoys spending time with her dogs Molly and Puffy and her beautiful rescue cat Darling.:)

Chloe

Veterinary Nurse

Chloe joined our team in December 2021 as a school-leaver having completed Animal Studies as part of the HSC program. 

She completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in June 2024 at Tafe (Bankstown). We are very impressed with her work ethic and maturity, and are so glad she chose us to mentor her through the early stages of her vet nursing career. She is a fantastic addition to the team, such a kind and gentle person exactly what our beautiful patients need during their stay with us. Chloe has a special interest in surgery, particularly caesareans/neonatal care and hospital patient care.

Chloe has two beautiful dogs - Summer, the Beagle Boxer Staffy mix and Murphy the Labradoodle. She also has a DSH Torti cat called Tammy.

Trainee Veterinary Nurse

Leticia joined our team during the Covid pandemic as we were so busy during that time. She has been such a brilliant addition to the team. She is a kind, caring person, and we absolutely love working with her. She is a fast learner with amazing work ethic and has taken to veterinary nursing extremely well. 

Leticia completed her HSC in 2022 and is studying Bachelor of Education (primary) at University and works with us on a part-time basis. She is mature beyond her years and can handle the most stressful situation with ease. 

In her spare time she loves travelling, going to the beach, socialising with friends and caring for her menagerie of rescue animals

Helma Van Den Heuvel

Practice Owner/Manager

Helma purchased BHVH in 2002 together with Dr. David Harney and Dr. Ted Humphries. Helma has been the Hospital Administrator since 2002.

She completed a Business degree in the Netherlands and migrated to Australia with her husband in 1986. She has since completed many additional business and nursing courses over the years.

She is very proud of the fact that BHVH has grown into a large business employing 6 veterinarians and 15 support staff and this has demonstrated itself by winning the Small Business Awards in Pet Care for 10 years running. She prides herself on providing gold standard care and 5 star customer service to our clients and their pets.

Helma is a registered dog breeder with Dogs NSW and also an Authorised Microchip Implanter, so she is able to microchip your pets for you anytime. She is very passionate about her job and dedicated to the welfare of animals.

Helma enjoys spending time with her family and life on the farm whereby she looks after a large herd of cattle, 3 horses, 3 dogs, chickens and goats.

Michelle

Administration

Michelle is a qualified veterinary nurse and had joined our team back in 2014. She took a break to work in human health care but returned to BHVH in 2020. Michelle has had a great love of all animals since she was a young child. While growing up she owned a multitude of pets that she adored. We are so glad she returned as she is a wonderful asset.

Michelle has a keen interest in all areas of Veterinary Nursing, especially surgery. She loves our patients and always treats them with the TLC they deserve. We love having her on our team she is such a bubbly, kind and caring person. Such a great team player!

In her free time Michelle loves the beach and getting outdoors. She also enjoys spending time with her beautiful family and their temperamental rescue cat Mia.

Jenny

Kennel Hand

Jenny joined the BHVH team back in September 2007 as our kennel hand. She is passionate about animal welfare.

As our kennel hand she starts very early in the morning to ensure that all our patients are walked, fed, have a clean dry comfy bed and gets lots of love and attention.

Jenny prides herself on taking care of all our patients as she would her own pets at home. We are so lucky to have her on our team. She is amazing with our patients.

Jenny enjoys spending time with her large family and shares her home with 10 rescue cats and her gorgeous Lab x rescue dog Sheru. 

Leanne

Kennel Hand

Leanne has been part of our team since 2019, she works alongside Jenny caring for all the animals staying with us. She is a wonderful addition and cares for them all as she would her own beloved animals. 

Prior to working with us Leanne worked in animal rescue she is dedicated to making sure animals live the life they deserve. She has multiple pets at home, all are rescue animals.
